Flor de Mayo sits on the top floor, where the building opens up into a private terrace shaded by bougainvillea that Valma has been coaxing along the railing for six years. Mornings here are unhurried: the coffee arrives at eight, the mountains do their thing, and the city hums somewhere below you.

Inside, the room is generous without being fussy — a king bed in Colombian cotton, a deep tub under a skylight, and a writing desk that gets the good afternoon light. The terrace has a hammock and a small table for two, which is where most guests end up eating breakfast.
